About Larry

 

PUBLIC SERVICE 

 

Larry Bragman was elected to Marin County District 3 as a Director at Marin Water in 2014. Prior to that Larry served on the Fairfax Town Council for 11 years including two terms as Mayor. During his tenure on the Council, Larry served as representative to Marin Clean Energy, Marin Telecommunications Agency, Transportation Authority of Marin and the Ross Valley Paramedic Authority. He is a registered Democrat.

 As a member of the Marin Water Board, Larry has helped achieve and supported:

  • The Marin Water Board implemented a groundbreaking ban on toxic herbicides in the Mt. Tam watershed.

  • Uninterrupted service to all customers through Covid and drought

  • Renovation of Kastania Pump Station to expand supply from Sonoma on budget and on time.

  • Beginning the long awaited Pine Mountain Tunnel replacement project.

  • The Board of Directors added graywater reuse as a conservation requirement.

  • Expanded goat grazing as part of a sustainable and safe vegetation management program.

  • Led Marin Water Board to adopt televised meetings.

  • Supported Marin Water’s switch to clean energy eliminating thousands of tons of carbon from our climate.

  • Rebuilding and expansion of Marin Water's recycled water facilities.

  • Habitat restoration in the Lagunitas Watershed.

  • Tribal participation in the Lagunitas Technical Advisory Committee.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Giving back is in Larry’s DNA.

  • Larry co-founded the Fairfax/San Anselmo Food Pantry with his wife, Holly, in 2011 where they continue to work.

  • Larry has been on the Fairfax Festival committee for 18 years and has been the Chair of the Festival for the last two years.

IN SERVICE TO CONSTITUENTS

Larry is a leader who listens. And when Marin Water customers want to get something done, they know they can count on him to provide assistance: 

  • When a critical Marin Water easement on West Marin property eroded beyond safe use, Larry facilitated the road’s replacement.

  • When a longtime customer pointed out the Bon Tempe disabled ramp was in disrepair, Marin Water repaired and renovated it.

  • When the Sequoia neighborhood in San Anselmo needed assistance with repaving its road, Larry facilitated MMWD’s financial participation in the upcoming Upper Sequoia slurry seal project

Larry graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and subsequently the University of San Francisco law school. After opening his own law practice in San Rafael, he served as the President of Marin Trial Lawyers. An avid cyclist, Larry still bikes to work on average 3 times a week. He has lived in Marin County for over 40 years, the last 14 of them with his wife, Holly, 2 sons and now 2 dogs as well.
